Important Notes About Patching NWA Quality Analyst
Single User Installation
Before patching, check which patch you need: Run Quality Analyst, open the Help menu, select About Quality Analyst, and confirm that the release number is 2.3.157, 2.3.175, 2.3.185, 2.3.237, 2.3.245, or 2.3.278.
You will need the original NWA Quality Analyst 6.1 CD to install the patch.
These patches modify the portions of NWA Quality Analyst 6.1 that have changed. Do not discard your original serial-numbered CD.
Download the patch file.
After downloading, double-click the downloaded file to install the patch. When prompted, insert the NWA Quality Analyst 6.1 CD.
After patching, you should test the patch by running Quality Analyst, opening the Help menu, selecting About Quality Analyst, and confirming that the release number is 2.3.283.
LAN Network Installation Point
The recommended method of patching a LAN installation is to patch the Network Installation Point, and then reinstall NWA Quality Analyst on each of the workstations. The new version will replace the previous version.
To patch the Network Installation Point, use the command line:
msiexec /p QA6283.msp /a setup.msi
Setup.msi is the msi file in the Network Installation Point, so the command above may need to include the paths to the msp and msi files:
msiexec /p "C:\QA Patch\QA6283.msp" /a G:\NWAQA\setup.msi
It is best to run the patch from the computer that contains the Network Installation Point. After patching, NWA Quality Analyst can be reinstalled on each workstation.
Before patching, check which patch you need: Run Quality Analyst, open the Help menu, select About Quality Analyst, and confirm that the release number is 2.3.157, 2.3.175, 2.3.185, 2.3.237, 2.3.245, or 2.3.278.
LAN Workstation
An alternative to reinstalling NWA Quality Analyst on the workstations is to patch each workstation. To patch a workstation, double-click on QA6283.msp. The Network Installation Point will need to be available, and it must contain the previous version of NWA Quality Analyst, not the new version.
If the Network Installation Point has been patched to the new version, workstations can no longer be patched. NWA Quality Analyst must be reinstalled on each workstation.
